Well I finally just sat down and did a painting... of a frog. It won't be for sale, because it's based on a Frans Lanting photograph, from his beautiful book Eye to Eye.
I have to admit, I'm quite pleased with it!
So since then, I did a painting of a bird - not so successful, I think you need to take the approach of either not attempting any texture of the feathers, or going the full hog and trying to get in loads of detail. So I'm not going to post a picture of that one!
But I have another couple of paintings started and in progress... I think I might have found a new love: watercolours!
